    Paint Job

    Hey,
I just got back from a local paintshop and theyve quoted my £500-600 to have the plastic side skirts, trim running down the car and door handles painted. Does this sound about right? Haven't had anything painted before so I dont know how much these things cost :S
    lol, cheers

its not a bad price - maybe a little high. However if there work is good and you feel happy with using them I would pay it

A lot will depend on the quality of their work. If its to a high standard (getting rare these days), then its seems a decent enough price.

ah ok, he said because its a textured surface they would have to prime and paint it twice, particularly the side skirts because theyre lower down to the road and need a strong finish.

Seems a little high for just the areas they quoted for, i take it for that price the work is guaranteed?? Alot of prep work is required when spraying, and masking up etc, they may be charging you for removal of the parts before spraying so costs will be more.

When i had one of my previous cars sprayed, i masked up myself and removed any parts i wanted spraying then gave it to the sprayshop, cheaper that way.

It's the old ... you get what you pay for .....

With a higher price you have plenty of comeback, yet if some places knock it out much cheaper, then chances are they will tell you where to go should you have any problems..."what do you expect for xx wuid mate ?? ha ha ha "

That does seem pretty steep. I had my side skirts, bump strips, handles, roof rails, mirrors and the black plastic bumpers done for £400. That was £200 off though cos he was a mate that owns a bodyshop.
