    Question Tyre size

I know this has been thrashed out many times before but could someone tell me which is the best tyre size for running on an Astra G on 17"

    205/45/17

    or

    215/40/17

I need new tyres so I though I should tap into the world of information here!!!hehe

215/40/17 as thats the standard size the standard 17" wheels come with

Depends if its got the correct offset. If they are correct then the garage is clearly shite

That doesn't make any sense from the garage, a 45 is bigger than a 40 for the same width tyre. The tyres on mine are 17" 45's and they have never rubbed.

the numpty that owned mine before i got it put 215/45/17 on and it does rub on the arch liners when there are three people in the car. i want to go back to 40's but i have to change all 4 as if you have 40 on the front and 45 on the rear it throws the traction control out as the two axles have a different rolling radius. i would go for 215/40/17 as these are the correct profile tyre on a 17 inch rim.

offset of the wheels are correct and the car is lowered 40mm all round. Would rarely have more that myself and the G'friend in the car so hopefully it won't rub on the arch liners.
    Will get the 205/40/17.

    Cheers!!!
