my 1.6 sport astra not going well

i drive a 2000 1.6 16v sport astra but lately ive noticed her to be very sluggish when driving and occasionally there is a flat spot around 4,000rpm. im a mechanic myself and ive checked changed the fuel filter cleaned the fuel tank out and checked most of the simple things but because there is no engine management light indicating im wondering if theres even anything wrong with it. anyone any ideas??? lambda sensor???

Try new spark plugs or it could be the coil pack, coil pack went on my astra at 35k

If you had a dodgy coil pack or spark plugs you would get intermittent power loss all the way through the rev range.

I would look at cleaning the throttle bodie and cleaning up the EGR.

It may be that your injectors may need a clean too but I would look at these first. Also check the pipe work for any splits or damage, may be lettign in air somwhere.

If all these are OK and its still the same then soem have reported that the coolant temperatur sensor was playing up causing the ecu to think the engine was still cold when it was warm. But I am sure you can check that out with a test meter and some hot water.

Keep us posted on your progress.
