I got one on my coupe and everyone says it makes a nice rasp when i drive passed them. I only have a standard backbox and it does sound good. It'll be fine with MOT as i havent had any problems.

No problems with mot at all as your only changing the system from the cat back, depends how loud you want it to be, i have a magnex rear box with my remus centre and it can get a bit annoying dual carriage/motorway driving, your removing the centre silencer so it's going to be louder

no.. a catback system is the system from the cat backwards - so therefore the middle section & the rear section.

The middle section on its own is called the middle/centre section.. The central silencer itself is about 2foot long as u say. This has the most sound deadening properties so remove this and your motor will sound louder but not at all chavvish if thats what ur concerned about.

Get it fitted is what I say - just make sure your existing backbox has a 2bolt flange fitment so it mates up nicely to the remus pipe. If it has a sleeve fitting then its an ideal opportunity to buy a new uprated rear box.

You can get a new cat back system (middle & rear box) for as little as £140 delivered. I use GT3 on ebay here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-ASTRA...QQcmdZViewItem

Most ppl use remus centre (£70) and a rear box of their choice (anything from £90 upwards) buy both together and youll save a few quid.

i'l be usein my standard vx back box. it's the flange/spring type. so i'm ok there.

is there any noticable gains to be had. from the standard pipe.

as now it feel's restricted bellow 3k rev's a little bit flat i describe it.

you should notice a little pick up in performance but having said that - fitting it to a standard backbox is probably gonna cancel out any benefits that the centre section gives.... it'll sound a bit better but im yet to actually hear one fitted to a standard backbox so good luck!!

Is it actually a bog standard backbox u have or an OE Irmscher one?

As for bein restrictive...what mods have u done? Have u done the all important airbox de-restrict mod? If not do it...together with a Vectra C air intake - this should tie everything in perfectly together and the throttle response will be improved.

bog standard box. done the air box mod. not veccy mod tho.

i think it has a lot too do with the fly by wire throttle myself.

but previous car was a 2Litre mk2 mondeo. with a KnN so i'm probably expecting the sri to be more go. because it's an SRI

plus the dash/speedo layout is different. so 50mph dosent seem 50mph.

its the position of the numbers. in the mondeo it seemed alot.

on these white dials you hardly no your goin 50.

I have fitted the remus centre section to my 02 1.8 sri , i also have an after market twin tail back box, the note is better but thankfully not overly loud, coupled with the de-restricted airbox and veccy pipe ive found the throttle response better and better mid range pull, as far as mot goes it wont effect the car at all as the z18xe engine has the cat thrown into the manifold so all i have done, is do away with is the silencers,
