    cleaning the engine bay

i spent like 4 hours cleaning my car and polishing it so the winter salt doesnt take its toll on my paint
i was topping up my oil and you can see the paint shining and just showed how filthy the engine bay was

so my question is how do i go bout cleaning it ive got a jet wash but was worried about the electrics having water pressured into them

    thanx

also be kind im not very often in this section so be gentle

To be honest not my domain really although if i do do my engine bay i would use aerospace 303....When i entered concours years ago with a 205gti i spent about 40 to 50 hours on the engine bay stripping it down and just using mild citrus degreaser and then silicone....Now i dont use silicon if i can help it but 303 aerospace is fantastic in that you can wash it to do engine bays and dilute it enough to wash fruit and veg safely....

The main thing to watch out for is the hoses not fading from using the correct solution or as you say worrying about electrics....

Ill pass this over to someone in the know.

    Dilute 30:1

I use aerospace uv protector on my details for rubber trim and some areas that require it to stop fade due to uv rays..

I use Autoglym engine and machine cleaner just spray it all over the engine bay agitate with brush then rinse off using a hose then while its still wet spray some Autoglym vinyl and rubber care all over the engine and hoses close the bonnet and leave to dry to a shine. You can get both products at your local halfrauds they might even have the 3 for the price of 2 deal on Autoglym.
