When Price Waterhouse Coopers disposed of what was left of MG Sport & Racing in March 2006, they employed the services of auctioneers Wyles Hardy & Cº. An auction was held whereby a great deal of the complete operation was sold - apart from a couple of dozen right / left hand drive, un-registered / registered MG XPower SVs / SV-Rs. Without wishing to flood the market in one go, and totally devalue the cars already in private ownership, the cars were placed in deep storage to be disposed of at a later date.
That date is about to happen! I have heard that Wyles Hardy & Cº will be shifting the 26 cars remaining, and that they will be selling them in batches of between 5 and 9 cars at a time, commencing at the end of September by private treaty. The cars in question include some of the last ones built by (and at!) MG Sport & Racing - and as such will possibly become the most desirable examples in future years.
