which components shall i get? choice of 4 sets??

i am ordering some components tonight, but want to make sure i make the right choice :S

    infinitys
    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/infi...cs-p-6013.html

    spl's
    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dyna...62-p-5523.html

    dls
    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dls-b6a-p-5115.html

    rainbow's
    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/rain...65-p-3853.html

i fitted some infinitys on sunday to moylies car, and was very impressed with them, his system sounds very good now. but i cant help thinking that maybe my other choices would be the tinest bit better?? i am thinking the rainbows as they are said to be very good, mind you the spl's are siad to be nice and punchy.

i have an alpine cd 9850ri headunit (50x4) and vibe vp4 runnning a 12" kappa infinity sub, i have all the rumble i need, just want some punch and detail

    thanks

ps) i bought these last week

and they are not a good replacement for std's trust me. i butchered them a bit to see if tweeters were worth using, but again no better than std tweeters. so i will stick them in our dog car seeing as i cant send them back lol

    in order of preference IMO...
    1. rainbow
    2. DLS
    3. Infinity
    4. SPL

nothing much to choose between Infinity & SPLs from my experiences. I have a set of Inifinity Kappas in mine and they're pretty good, would rate them on a par with the budget/mid range DLS's you've posted

top choice IMO would be rainbow, only ever heard good things about the brand in general and although I've never fitted the components, the coaxials kick like a mule if you want them to

    For me it would be:

    1) DLS
    2) Rainbow
    3) infinity
    4) SPL

Why that order, simply to get Rainbows sounding brilliant you need to go up there model range whereas from my experience the DLS even in there lower end stuff they always sound good. That is not to say that the rainbows sound bad far from it just IMHO the DLS sound marginally better and are less fussy on partnering electronics.

    Not a good replacement?
How come or is is just that perticular set?

AJB2K3, they may be alpine, but they're the budget models that are designed for churning them out cheap and selling to the masses. Vauxhalls actuall have reasonable speakers in as standard, so things like these, or the £20-£30 sets you can get from Motorworld/EBay etc (SPX/insert other cheap make here) won't sound any better, and in some cases will actually be worse

@brucey: if you can find a few more pennies down the back of the sofa, why not have a look at either of these..?

I have some Rainbow's in my Coupe with a Rainbow 'Hammer' series sub and it sounds superb. Not sure now what model mine are or how much they cost as I bought them in a package with the sub and a PG amp. Awesome kit though.

pete is spot on matey, i at least thought they would be better than std but they were'nt. maybe better than escort mk4 speakers yeah, but like pete said, vauxhall have quite a good speaker really. if your going alpine buddy try get the higher end in there components, i am sure alpine wont let you down

shame you came back with them pete, they would of been nice, did not really search over £100 mark, ordered the rainbows now. well moylies infinitys were great so if the rainbows can match or prove better i will be happy hitting 26 on an alpine vol control ok and clear is certainly not quiet thats for sure.

    cheers guys
