    Good News and Bad IMO

I have just been offered a promotion job offer, 27k a year, 300 per month car allowance, working in halifax, live in doncaster.

This means I will put 24k per year onto my coupe 1.8!

Do you think it will last, I always service it every 5k, very well looked after car.

TBH i'm worried about if it will last, brother has told me to get shut and by a VW, good for motorway miles apparantly.

    opinions?

Really dont want to sell the coupe, love her to bits!

Get yourself a deisel if I were you - but I'm sure that your coupe will be fine, you don't say what the mileage is now?

Its on 82k, but has been serviced religously, twice since i've had it.

So, have the finance agreement for another 3 years, so thats 76k, plus say another 10k for personal in those three years...

    76+82+10 = 168k

    What you think?

To be honest the coupe is going to kept, I will keep it clean and tidy just going to be a lot of miles thrown on her.

cant afford to run two cars, seems like a lot of earnings and allowance but once the family is looked after and bills are paid it doesn't leave alot!

Run it until the engine lets go and transplant something different? You shouldn't have any problems finding a replacement 1.8 if need be.

As Scottyboy says and then when you need a new engine, put a diesel one in!

Well with that sort of mileage, you will be spending your increased earnings on petrol!

I wouldn't worry about the car, I'd worry about you. Will you be able to hack doing that mileage? I used to do high miles and it drove me to depression. I now travel about 50 mins each way for my new job, still quite a lot, but better than what I did before.

Make sure it is a move you really want and can live with. Cars can be replaced, sanity and your livelyhood are a little more important.

Drive it till the wheels fall off it. Diesel would make more sense but realistically what are you going to get for the coupe if you sell it etc. Just fire the miles on it.
