    Might try and buy this????????

Just seen this on ebay, emailed the guy to ask what it comes with and if the majority of stuff comes with it then i may well go for it.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=015

But its the later eco tec model engine (x25xe).
Am i right in thinking these are down on power in comparison to the earlier c25xe engine found in the Cav's??

If so i may just wait about and keep an eye out for a c25xe lump if its a big difference in power??

    Thanks,
    Rich.

The ecotec ones run about 173 bhp - if you put the omega 3.0 exhaust and inlet cams in it you'll get nearer 192bhp (as this is what they did with the Vectra GSi to make the diference)

That's not a Cav engine and it's better due to the revised manifold set up on it.
Tell me what you've done, not what you're going to!

Yeah i know its not a Cav lump, was just asking the difference between this and the earlier Cav lumps

Spoke with the guy and he says everything i would need (loom, ecu, driveshafts etc etc) is included in the sale.

I am tempted, its on ebay for a month so i will see how i go with it

Higher power but less torque from the Ecotec X25XE compared to the "redtop" C25XE. I think.

as I said to you at the meet Rich, I'd go for the Veccy lump over the Cav - purely and simply because there's loads of them about with lower miles on, and as Coupe Chris says its relatively easy to gain nearer 200bhp from it through the same tweaks as the GSi... Why don't you see if you can find a written off Vec GSi in one of the local scrappies? Hainford Hall always seem to have plenty of VX's when I go round there, and if you like I can pop round and enquire at Norfolk Salvage (which is barely 1/2 mile from my door)

thought you were going to wait until the end of the winter anyway?!

Trying to find a Cavalier lump is going to be hard, more so trying to find one that hasnt done 100k + (bear in mind the newest Cav V6 engines are now 11 years old). ?That would be a far better option. 40k and a newer setup, Im actually tempted to buy it myself tbh.

I went down to hainford hall to have a browse the other day but nothing interesting there

I am/was waiting till winter but when i saw this motor i was tempted. Im not buying it for now, if its still on ebay in 2/3 weeks time i will consider it more.

If i did buy it i would not actually put it in for about a year (wait for the no claims ya see) and that would give me plenty of time to change the cams, polish it up etc etc and get everything else done to the car first

Failing that i may just wait until a GSI lump turns up

Its just the same as a GSi lump minus the cams.

I would hang on for the cav C25XE, its much more less complicated than the X25XE.
