    Canaries

    does anyone else on here keep Canaries as i have one and was wondering if their have a moulting season as mine is starting to moult but is well looked after.

    it gets a daily bath, fresh water and food daily, fresh fruit and it let out daily.

    thanks for any help

    yer canaries do moult
    my dad keeps cananies and has breed them for years

    i remember when i brought my dad a red factor and he moulted and guess what he`d been colour feed so when his real feathers came through he wasn`t a red factor lol

    My personal opinion is its bored. On reading about it, its apparently a way to show that they are lonely, bored etc.

    My parents have a cockatoo who unfortunately is left alone most of the day, and is alone. Now her breast is completely bare where she has been pulling her feathers out.

    they are sick of it, whats worse is I recall it being a very special breed and that technically its worth a mint. Poor thing.

    mine is looked after, clean water and food everyday, has toys to play with in cage, and is also let of cage for an hour an hour everyday, but i read somewhere that in mid summer / late summer is tends to moult due to weather change or something
