    Strange warning...

    Hey all,

Driving around a couple of weeks ago, and the emissions light popped up on my dash, wasn't to sure what to do, was gonna take it to get looked at, but after a day, it just disappeared again. Hasn't come on since though...

This worth worrying about? had i better get it checked out, or just leave it be?

if it just popped on then off then never reared its head again then its perfectly ok to leave it.

however if it comes on for more than a set period - think its about 30sec then a fault code will have been stored in the ECU - u can have these codes read at a dealer for about £60 or an indy garage for about £40 or for free if its a pre-2000 model..and read the code ur self.

Its very likely that the fault is a dodgy EGR valve - very very common failure across the range.
Personally Id leave it for now but if it starting lighting up again then maybe worthwhile having the codes read.

Hows the car running? Any issues at all? Hesitation, jerkiness, stalling etc???

If none of the above my advice is ignore it.

    Thank you very much GB,

No, no problems with anything, all running fine. Will leave it, and if it pops up again i will get it looked at.

    Thanks!
