Coolant/Air Con light on, on the dashboard

I've just installed a new Z20LET into my Zaf GSi.

When the car is standing with the engine running, the air con fan comes on and the coolant/air con light comes on, on the dashboard.

I had a guy out today to regas the air con system and he said that the compressor has gone and needs replacing. He said he had sorted the fan problem by cleaning the pressure switch.

However, the fan and light still come on after the car has been stood for about 10 minutes with the engine running.

The fan will be on for about a minute or 2 then it goes off, after 5 minutes or so, the fan comes back on.

The dash light comes on and stays on.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers

How much have you driven the car since fitting the engine? The coolant light came come on if there is an air look in the system. Try squeezing pipes to make sure all the air is out of them. The other reason for it coming on is related to the fans - but I'm not too gen'ed up on those tbh.

Are both fans coming on when the engine heats up? If the aircon fan is the only one coming on then it sounds like a dodgy coolant fan or it's cabling.

Basically the light comes on then 2 seconds later, just the air con fan comes on.

It did this straight after the engine was installed, hadn't driven it anywhere and it was before the system was due to be regas'd.

The guy came to regas it and said the compressor had gone, so the system still is not gas'd. He said he'd fixed the fan problem but obviously not.

This also only happens when the car is parked up with the engine running. I've driven about 18 mile in it, but don't want to go any further until I know what the problem is.

If you have only done 18 miles, then there could still be air locks in the system.
