A few weeks ago whilst on holiday in yorkshire my Zaf GSi decided that enough was enough, it had enough of me ignoring the oil light on dash and decided to teach me an expensive lesson!
(it had an oil leak which was looked at by vaux and I was advised not to worry about it as it wasn't massive. I thought the oil light was because of said leak)
How wrong I was. The oil pump had decided it too wanted to go on holiday so decided to stop!
Car was towed back home where the horrible news was broken. Engine had seized and a new one was required.
New one was subsequently ordered.
Here are the mandatory pics. I'm taken loads but I'll spare you and show the important ones
Engine ready to come out
In process of coming out
Looking very sorry for itself
Back in the hole
We had a few problems along the way
Oil filter was a complete ar*e
We destroyed it to get it off
Inner CV boot was also AWOL
Old brake discs
And now the funny pics!!
When asked if he knows how to remove an engine, Tim phones a friend!!
Who needs Haynes?
Keith holding it all up!
Who needs 200bhp!!
Erm, I think thats the engine!
And the final pic, the new engine in and looking good
I must say an absolute huge thank you to Keith Forrest for all the help removing and fiddling, couldnt have done it without you. To Kieths neighbour Tim who was there to help take the engine out. A massive thank you to Harvey Emsley for helping getting the engine back in and being on the end of a phone!! And to my dad for the help with connecting it all back up again.
Thanks guys, you are the best!!
