astra coupe 1.8 vs. fabia vrs

Hello all I drive a Fabia VRS and my Sister's BF drives a Vauxhall Astra G 1.8 Coupe SE2 (which I nearly bought).

He is adamant the Coupe is quickern as its quoted time is 8.5 seconds to 60, and mine is 9.5 but I think my VRS would just nudge it due to more torque. I told him figures are meaningless but he is very adamant.

Although i hate to admit it (i have a 1.8 myself) your right. once you get moving the vrs outpulls the astra all the way. made the same mistake when one of my mates bought one.

Neahaha I thought so... and my remap should see me outpulling the turbo's...

But never mind I do love the SE2 its a beautiful car much nicer to look at than a VRS. I nearly bought one but heard they drink fuel

take it to a track day mate and have it out with him there!!!!
only legal idea i can think of!

remapped diesels are the way forward.

Mine is weighed down by a bodykit and sound system. not sure if the outcome would be different if mine had been standard.

the torque is crazy on them things. only problem hes got is trying to keep the white seats clean!

cant really complain when there as quick as they are and still do stupidly high mpg though.

My dads lardy 130bhp Mondeo TDCi pulls away from a Mk5 1.8 Astra so I would imagine the Fabia would pull ahead, especially from a rolling start. I nearly bought a remapped vRS and it was a proper weapon, cracking wee cars.
