Room redecorating (56k go play outside)

Ok, bit of an odd thread, but I figured I share it with you all anyway.

I had the whole of last week off from work while my mother was away on holiday. Had a few difficulties at home over the last few months (Father walked out on us) so I decided to use the peace and quiet at home to my advantage. I decided to decorate my room! My room hasn't been decorated since I was 14 (now 22). My room was designed for when I was at school - lots of drawers, surfaces and storage space. The redecoration was brought on by my girlfriend - she would only let me buy a new TV if I promised to redecorated my "dump of a room". Took lots of pictures throughout the process so have decided to post them up. Can't believe the room has turned out so well!

Unfortunately I don't have proper pictures of the room as it was originally. Was packed full of furniture and rubbish - I seem to have trouble with getting rid of stuff. The room was full of old magazines (Spurs Monthly's dating back to 1998, Rhythm magazine's from the past 5 years and pretty much every Kerrang' from between 1998 and 2005).

We started by moving out all the junk from my room and started pulling down the old furniture.

My mother's room was used as a dumping ground (note the cat sleeping on the bed)

Even Mum's bathroom was used for dumping!!

CDs, DVDs, games and books were piled up on the landing

We then started with the Polyfiller (all my old furniture had been screwed to the wall to stop me from moving it

It got rather dusty in there so protection was required (note: that is my girlfriend, not me)!

Once the pollyfillering had been done we started the white coat!

The cat decided she didn't like the decorating so decided to hide under my bed in th middle of the room

I had forgotten to empty my cupboard so decided to battle it during a break from the painting. I must have put all my old posters in there (from when my room was last decorated 8 years ago). Some classic posters were found. Even one for the Vauxhall fans!

I take it the Subaru 'Streega' was never put into production?

The car posters were all from the 1995 Car Show.

We then put the cream coat on

And painted my cupboard white (took f*****g ages!)

My girlfriends Father very kindly installed my new light and carpet and my sister very kindy hoovered it.

Next I moved the TV upstairs.

And put my bed back up (with new sheets/duvet/pillowcases)

Then the new CD storage towers went in. Need 6 of them to accommodate my CD/DVD/game collection.

Put my new chest of drawers up too

Now I had originally planned to instal a projector in the room to save the space a computer desk would take up. However tonight I had an idea.....

Yep, you guessed it I'm currently writing this on my PC using my new 42" tv as the monitor!

All that's left is to collect the sofa cover from Ikea tomorrow evening and the room will be ready for me to move all my clothes back in!

Apologies for the long post. I've never decorated anything properly so am dead proud of what I've done!

Looking good fella! I knowhat you mean about the sense of acheivement, but wait till you have to do a whole house!!! It soon wears thin!!

Loving the PC TV, I'm still trying to convince Laura to let me do the same.
