Hope i'm posting in the correct section.
Basically i've owned my Vauxhall Astra Estate , 1.7 dti on a Y reg for approx 16 months. The car has run without any problems whatsoever , just the usual brakepad changes etc etc but no mechanical problems to speak of.
Only a few days ago I was just about to pull out of a carpark and my engine just cut out. The AA had a look but in the end towed me to the garage I use. They have checked it out and tell me that is it something they know as the 'FUEL PUMP MODULE'. Apparently this is a silver box which is attached to the side of the fuel pump and tells the pump to send fuel to the engine ?
Anyway i've been quoted approx £570 for the part and fitting and also that included re-programming the part ? The mechanic isn't 100% that the official name of the part is 'FUEL PUMP MODULE'.
Does anybody have any information on this problem. I'm hoping to be able to get it sorted out for less than the £570 as this is a bit expensive. Can I buy a part from a scrapyard ? If so how much approx ? Plus what's the official name of the part ?
Basically any info people can give me about this will be greatly appreciated.
