    Question MK 5 Screenwash problem

hi all first post so hope its in the right place!
ive got an Astra H 5-door on an 06 plate. Basically whenever ive been using my window washer lately there is a bad egg smell. first i thought the worse and thought it was cat or something but its defo coming from the washer reservoir as when u open the top to fill it up u can smell it bad.
ive emptied it and refilled with plain water but still smells.

how do you access the bottle on the astra H to remove it and clean it out?
i know on the astra g it involved moving panels or summat but on the corsas (mk 1 & 2) ive owned it was easy. any idea? cant even see the damn thing on the astra h!!!

    thanks all

Sounds like the water has "gone off" in the bottle. Cant you put a very strong concentrate of washer fluid/screen wash in it? Or poke a hose pipe into the bottle and flush it that way?

i wasnt sure about putting concentrate in on its own -ie without water cos of the paintwork. i could try it tho. if i put the hose in wont that just fill it up? didnt want it to overflow and get on the electrics...(not too 'up' on 'under the bonnet' maintenance so apols if i sound dumb!!)

screenwash won't damage the paint work. try a 50/50 mix to get rid of the smell. Then go to a 4:1 ratio. If you put the hose in and turn it on so it just trickles out you would be fine. You could empty the bottle by using it all up then refilling it?

yeh ive emptied it a few times but there still the smell. i know when i had same prob on one of my corsas it was caused by gunk in the bottom which had to be scrubbed out. ill try a 50/50 mix with a good screenwash and see what happens. thanks for your replies

Use the Halford's blue ready mixed wash - it'll kill off any smell.
