    Oil Pressure Warning Light.

It came on today on the way to southport, stopped at a filling station, turned the iginition off and then restarted the engine and the waring light was off. Anyway i bought some oil and topped it up by about 1/4 litre or less, the engine was too hot to get an oil read, it was fine for the rest of the journey and was fine on the way back. Any ideas? Its an 11 month old 1.9 CDTi 150 (standard) with 8k on the clock.

Sounds simply that it needed oil !

However, on earlier 1.9 engines, the dipstick design was causing problems.
symptoms of the warning light coming on prematurely.
The fix is a newer designed dipstick.

Although with your car being that new, it should have the newer design.

Did you check the oil level when you recieved the car? Some new or newer cars are filled at the factory but never topped right up, or are topped right up but once the oil begins to fill the lines and gets round the engine the level will sink.

My only advice would be to keep an eye on your oil level, if you consumption becomes quite bad then let us know. In the mean time you could check for blue smoke coming from the exhaust when hooning it around or check the pipework and intercooler for signs of oil.

Well i now know where the oil is going, its leaking from the engine. WAs cleaning the driveway and notice a few oil spots, checked under the car and there is a small leak somewhere. Its due its 1st service at the end of the month, but i`ll get it done the end of next week so they can check the leak out.
