    Hi

Im prolly being blind but i couldnt find a hello sticky or what ever so im saying hello here

    Hi im Will
    20
    live in ipswich

and looking for my 1st car ... I love astras and wanted one, but only thought i could insure a 1.7 turbo diesel

but after some nice surprises with some friendly insurance companies I found that could actually afford the coupe range of astras!!! hehe
due to the fact thats its gotta keep me entertained for a while I'll prolly be after the 2.0 turbos or the bertone 2.2s

I saw a really nice blue 2.2 with the half leather and blue suede interior with 50k on the clock for around £4500
i love it and for the price i think its spot on.. the only mod it has a the irmscher grill

I had a look at parkers tech specs and was a bit disappointed when i found it only manages 60 in 8.2 seconds?? .. its kind of putting me off as i have also found that the 2.2 are difficult to mod...
i'd be happy if i could get 7 - 7.5 out of my 1st car coz at 8.2 my mates 306 xldt would give it a run for its money ..
and we cant have a pretol being beaten by a derv can we!

so now the question is should i go for the 2.0 turbo...
a good example seems stupidly hard to find and when i do find one i know itll be pricey.

i really like the 2.2 that i found as its exactly what i want except the 0-60 is a little disappointing..

    What should i do ???

    cheers in advance
    Will

    Welcome Will,

The 2.2 can be difficult to mod but thats not to say impossible to mod. If you have a look at the modification diarys under major projects for a user called ffeog, he's managed to get nearly 180BHP from his.

The 2.0L turbo is very easy to mod in comparison a simple remap will see 30BHP+ where as you'll never find that from a N/A car. Problem with the turbo's they eat fuel unless you drive like miss daisey.

In short if your looking for performance then look at the 2.0L turbo's
    SRI-T's
    GSI's
    Coupe Turbo's

If your looking for a motorway cruiser something with plenty of grunt to get you from a-b then a 2.2 will do very nicely.

    Hope that helps

    Welcome to AOC mate.

Nothing wrong with getting beaten off the line by a derv. Just look at the 888 CDTi's
    Gaz

    No longer owns an Astra

Bye bye VXR Castle Combe Edition - because it's done more laps of Castle Combe than most Bergs have of the Ring
