Changing car, sound a good deal?

So had my car up for sale had no interest, so turning attentions to trading it in,

Currently been offered £2k for it against a 2001 VectraSri 150, £600 cash and mine i get the Vectra

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-VAUXHALL-...QQcmdZViewItem

heres the vectra in question, it is from a garage (my mrs' dads) and her little brother is selling it

    What would you do?

I need a bigger car for work, had enough of the astra tbh, so the vectra ticks the boxes.
But could i get something better for the same outlay?

I cannot see the ebay advert, but to me a Vectra is a just a bigger Astra. Why not go for something completely different?

I went from an Astra G to a Vectra B.. huge mistake. The Vectra is a big step back in terms of ride/handling/build quality/looks (imo)/reliability.
    Previous Astras: 1994 Cesaro 1.8 16v | 2002 SXi 1.6 16v | 2001 Coupé 2.0 Turbo | 1999 LS 1.6 16v
    Other Vauxhalls: 2001 Vectra 1.8 16v| 2003 Vectra GSi 3.2 V6 | 2005 Signum CDTi 150

I'd agree with others on here. The Astra is a well made and reliable motor. You'd lose that if you went for a Vectra. The list of known faults with the Vectra is long (take a read on Honest John and you'll see). There is a reason why you can pick em up very cheap on Autotrader. If you're looking for a change, then if I were you I'd pick something else (the Mondeo is a far better car than the Vectra).

Vectra-B was a step backwards for GM, it wasn't as spacious or reliable as the Cavalier 3 - the whole reason I wouldn't buy a Vectra-B but bought an Astra-G instead - after 7+ years and 95,000 miles it was the best car buying decision I ever made.

Vectra-C is very different, much larger to fill the gap left by the Omega's demise.

    Drives :- Hyundai Santa Fe

my mate gave 7k for his 01 vectra sri 130 or 140 turbo diesel a few years ago.today ive seen the same cars sell around my way for around 1k
i had a vectra 1.7td p reg and i couldn't really fault the car but after owning 2 mk4's i could never go back to a vectra.
i know mine was the basic model but Ive been in some higher spec vectra's and they all felt the same to me.
if you need a bigger car buy a mk4 estate
