Does your alarm beep when armed?

As title really When, deadlocking your can and thus activating the alarm on the car, does your car beep or anything?

Mine doesn't, just wondering if its a astra thing not to beep when the alarm is activated.

    Car: Mk4 2.0DTi SRi

    Thanks

mine doesn't but it doesn't have a factory alarm either so there's no surprise

There's a few manufacturers don't make the car bleep when you arm the alarm, for security reasons.. If a wannabe thief is watching you on a regular basis, and hears your bleep everytime you lock the car, he's just going to wait until the first time he doesn't hear it, then pounce on the car nicking your lovely h/u, sat nav, cd's etc etc

pretty good idea to do away with the audible warning really IMO

Didn't think of it like that, and in a sense, suppose its a good idea. But, you be 'silly' not to use an alarm on the car if you have one, even if it is to leave your car parked for 2 secs!

I agree but it only takes a misplaced finger for you to think you've alarmed it when in fact you haven't.. if you aren't paying attention to any beep, then you'll miss that it wasn't there... but the chav watching you won't have...

how good are you at beeping?!

seriously though, I'm sure you could get a "beeper" on eBay or maplins or somewhere similar, and wire that up to the alarm. wouldn't be too hard I guess, just wire it into the circuit for a total closure module, so it beeps on the double click of the button
