    Double Din Fascia Fitting..

    Hi all,

I'm going to get trying to fit a 7" touchscreen into my new Astra, the touchscreen isn't your usual stereo so won't just slide into a cage.. but it will fit into a double din sized hole.
What I need to know is how the double din fascia's fit into the car, I'm planning to get a double din fascia kit and mould the 7" screen into that.. the problem is that i'm not sure how the fascia kits fit, and how i can mount the kit once the screen is moulded in (as there will be no access through the 'hole' in the adaptor where the stereo would normally go.)
What I need is something like the standard Vaxhall stereo where you have the two holes on each side to allow removal of the unit, and it 'clips' in when you slide it into place..
    Hope that makes sense!

First of all, have you seen this thread:
    Linky mk5 Double din

Second, what size is your actual screen....because there is not a lot of height available in the fascias.

I have a single din fascia adaptor that I bought in error (well either me or supplier !) it was for a corsa...fits, but does not have the crease line in the middle...

This fits into the hole left by removing the CD30 stereo that I had.

It would be ideal for you to hack about....
If you want it (just facia, no wiring),

PM me your addy and I'll send it to you for free !

    The screen is about 7 - 7.5 inches x 4 - 4.5 inches.
I took a look in the double din thread earlier but couldn't figure out exactly how it fits, I'm guessing you use the access through the double din cutout to screw some fixings then slide in the stereo..
Thanks for the offer of the fascia, could prove handy! PM sent
