Car cut out....
.....on my way to work this morning in the outside lane of the motorway. Well the engine was still running just all power went and i couldn't accelerate or rev the engine. The exhaust emissions light came on and i cut across three lanes of traffic, in rush hour, to the hard shoulder. Tried revving the engine; nothing. Turned her off the on again and it was fine but the light was still on.
Rang the RAC and when he came out it was fine and there was no light.
Spoke to Vaux and they say that they probably wouldn't be able to find the fault without the light being on; they'd just be guessing. My exhaust does pop a lot and i've had aproblem with it cutting out before but never with the sudden power loss or any lights coming on. The RAC guy said it could be the fuel igniting and causing problems with the sensor. Vaux guy said that the power loss will have been because the sensor malfunctioned or sensed a problem so shut the car down to avoid any damage, its what they do apparently?
Does anyone know what it could be thats caused it. I posted another problem in the thread below and think its something to do with that.
Vaux just said it could be a one off and to wait and see if it happens again... don't fancy it happening on the outside lane off the motorway again though!
Advice would be appreciated. Cheers
Oh i've got an Astra SRi 2.2 with DBilas flowtec air inlet manifold on it, Steve W's old car, the flame red one if anyone knows it?
You need to go to Vauxhall and find out which sensor failed or brought up the error. We can take it from there, but really with the amount of mods on the car is difficult to diag the problem so the code will help for sure.
Back street garage should cost you £30 for this. Vaux £50
Its a jam thing
Haec credam a deo pio, a deo justo, a deo scito?
Well when i spoke with Vauxhall they told me that it probably wasn't worth it as they more than likely wouldn't be able to pick up the fault with the light off so they'd just be guessing. Might just get it done anyway. Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem?
