As per the title - just fitted a set of these to the car and it is rubbing on ONE side at the back when there are people in the back. Looking from the back of the car one wheel is further into the arch than the other, so it looks as though the back axle can not be fitted correctly. I had not noticed this before with standard wheels, since I never had any cause to compare either side from the back of the car.
My questions are therefore:
is it normal for the back axle to not quite be central?
is there anything I can do to straighten it out?
will getting the arches rolled prevent this from happening and how much would this cost?
would a different suspension setup from standard make any difference?
For information the tyres on the wheels at present are 225/40/18 which according to BK will fit the MK4 fine and not rub, the car is not lowered, the wheels and tyres are definately all the same size, and in normal driving with one person in the front it does not rub at all. I had fitted a full spax psx adjustable kit to the car, but that would not even let me drive the car off the drive with the wheels on so I had to take the whole lot off again!
Any advice please as at present it is worrying me to drive the car - especially having noticed the off centre position of the back axle!
Above was a picture with the wheels and lowering (the gap betwen wheel and arch is obviously a bit bigger now)
