    Mass Air Flow Sensor

I got what is basically a variable resistor in a box which fits onto the MAF sensor from ebay.
Fitting involves cutting a wire, and connecting the resistor via a terminal block and the benefits of this are supposedly more power....?!

Has anyone ever tried fitting one of these?
    which wire is it?
    Was it worth it?

    By the way it's a 1.8 03 reg Zaf.

    don't do it!!

The engine relies on correct info provided by the sensor for it to function correctly - the ECU constantly adjusts the mixture to keep it as close as possible to stoich (which is correct) and give you the best possible combination of power and fuel efficiency.

While this will tend to yield a small horsepower increase in the short term, and perhaps even the long term as the carbon build-up increases the compression, over time it will ultimately lead to expensive repairs and lowered overall performance.

With the computer unaware of the actual air temperature and thinking it's much colder than it really is, the engine will be running almost constantly rich. The result with be much reduced gas mileage and a build-up of carbon deposits from unburnt fuel which can foul spark plugs and destroy the catalytic converter.

The best place for you purchase is in the bin - simple as

Like running with the choke on constantly?

    Cheers for the warning.
