    Diesel Tuning - Glasgow /Edinburgh area

    Right folks,

    I'm bored and require more power!

    Going to get the Car chipped! Got a few plans like stainless exhaust and derestrict airbox but does anyone know or have any experience with companies for chips/remap in the glasgow or Edin area?

    Its the 1.7CDTI astra H (100ps) and just feels sluggish!

    Thanks,
    Mk5 Astra Sxi, 18'' Kei racing force 10's, Eibach Pro street S Coilovers, Full JDL tuning bodykit, Irmscher spoiler and Lazer cut Grille, de-badged

    Tuning box on the 1.7CDTi may see 120hp, really 125hp is about all you can squeeze out of that engine. Consider that engine first came out with 65hp, they gave it direct injection to 75hp as the 1.7DTi, and then wrung it to 100hp as the 1.7CDTi.

    The F17 gearbox isn't rated for much more than 200lb/ft (which tallys with just over 100hp on those engines) - just be aware of that too if you've got the 5-speed 'box. The 6-speeder is a better box, but I'm not sure if it ever made it to the 1.7.

    so if the dtuk is quoting;

    Increase from 100ps to 124ps @ 91 bhp tuned with 297nm of torque would this be ok for the gearbox to handle you recon?

    297Nm isn't a huge amount, should be within the box's capability. You might find the box starting to get dodgy at 100k rather than 150k sort of thing.

    My 1.7CDTi is doing 120hp and 215lb/ft with no problems other than wheelspin at the moment :P
    Normally I have the box turned down a bit though to keep the smoke to a minimum, and also the accelerator gets a bit twitchy as you turn the power gain up on the box.
    Mine is the DTUK red box, very much recommended

    215lb/ft is oddly low for having 120hp...I'd have expected something in line with 240lb/ft at that sort of power.

    I'm getting 206lb/ft with 103hp, and as the two engines are similar as far as stroke length, the power/torque should be similar.

    I'm getting the 2.0DTi remapped sometime next week hopefully (if the remappers can fit it in). Should be interesting to see what it'll pull (standard map with my mods is showing 103hp and 206lb/ft
