I've tried to find one for mine and they are almost impossible to get hold of!
The only way is a remap... and it is true you get performance and economy gains. Most tuning companies will remap a 1.7DTi to around 100bhp and 200nm of torque.. some will go up to 115bhp but 100bhp seems to be standard to keep the engines power even throughout the rev range.
I will be remapping mine soon... hope this info has helped

    Er...Superchip is a remap?!?

105hp with about 200lb/ft is about the best to aim for on the 1.7DTi - any more you end up with a black cloud out the back, and trashing the F17 gearbox. A decent remap on the 1.7DTi will give it the same power as a good standard 2.0DTi.

You may want to address the exhaust, decat, derestrict the airbox etc before getting the remap, though. The standard exhaust and cat are quite restrictive, on my 2.0DTi replacing the exhaust with a 2.5" Powerflow and decatting released 6hp and nearly 50lb/ft

I thought a superchip was a 'bolt on' chip that piggy backs the ECU... Where a remap changes the programming of the original ECU.. Sorry if im wrong

You are. Superchip used to do plug-in ROM remaps for the old ECUs in stuff like Cavaliers, Mk2 GTE etc. That's 20 years ago though, all their stuff is remaps now. Piggyback ECU chips really are a thing of the past.
