OOps iv broke something .. need some suggestions

    Evening all,

Iv have some how created a problem for myself, First off a little history,

I have a 2.0 DTI mk 4 with 67 000 on the clock, normaly driven low revs and sensably, not tonight due to a emergancy at home i had to strech her legs, I did the naughty thing of flooring her on non private roads, The result after about 6 miles the back end went spongy, after about 10 miles the back end started creaking and making a scraping noise , when i got home and everything settled down i have bounced the back end it doesnt seem to be sitting low but it is creaking and scraping Im guessing rear shocks or a spring has given up.

to add insult to it there as a loud weering noise from the passenger side front wheel.

car is totaly standered not lowered and on 15 inch steel rims, any suggestions on what to look for in the morning ??

A visual check on the rear springs would help.

If you've been giving it beans over bumps, then remember the rear suspension may very well bottom out over a jump, and maybe unseat springs momentarily - which may have caused them to maybe break.

Hope you enjoyed it ...bets thing about driving, giving it beans

Quite normal for the rear springs to break on the Mk4. Also the rear shocks tend to get a bit crap after about 50k if you drive on bad roads. My rear shocks were totally knackered at 45k, but that may be to do with the previous owner towing trailers all the time.

Oh, and the 2.0DTi does need a good spanking now and again, or the EGR, catalyst and swirl flaps get clogged.
