Smile Difference between sxi and sri

Hi, I am new to this site so please bear with me.. I have just bought a new 2003 Mk 4 model Astra which I am picking up in the next couple of days (Can't wait).

While I have been waiting for this date to arrive, and that fact that I have never had an Astra before, I have been doing some light reading about them.

One question I do have but cant find the answer to is what is the main difference between the sxi and sri.

Don't get me wrong I am very happy with the one I have bought, it is in black, 5 door with spoiler, ABS, Air con, central locking, electrics etc etc, just curious to the differences. If anyone could tell me more about my car I would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

Pretty much the only real difference is the SRi has different coloured seats and the multi-function trip computer. The engine choice was different on the SXi compared to the SRi (SXI got 1.6, 1.8 petrol and 2.0DTi - SRi got 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2 petrol and the same 2.0DTi diesel). Some SXi are actually better specced than some SRi, depending on the options fitted.

I love my '03 SXi too - best car I've had to be honest, and I've had plenty.

    Welcome to AOC.

Yeah, getting mk4 and mk5 mixed up there methinks!

On the mk4 the SRi has a spoiler as standard and the SXi doesn't. As ZS says though, many of the SXi's have been specced up anyway.

Yeah, I have also noticed this Astra SXI I am buying has extra's on it such as ABS & spoiler that are quoted as optional extras.

One thing though I have noticed reading the brochure that ZS kindly directed me to, on the two models below the SXI and on the SRI and GSI they all have electrically controlled heated door mirrors but on the SXI they are standard internally manual adjustable mirrors, seems strange to go back a step on such things as this, why not put electric mirrors on all of them. Same with the back seat centre head rest. I know these are trivial things but you would of thought Vauxhall would of made some of these things standard on the higher spec cars.

That's one of the things on my SXi - it has electric mirrors. It's not even an option, and according to the brochure traction control isn't available on the 2.0DTi but mine definately has the two-way TC (and I'm yet to be convinced it's not actually ESP as it does intervene on wet roundabouts).

My car was originally Vauxhall Fleet, so maybe they checked some option boxes not normally available to Joe Public? I dunno.

My dti turned up with traction control too ZS even though it wasn't an option. But Autosparks fixed it for me so it's not too annoying
