Unhappy Engine light & traction control light (car with wet roads) has come on my astra

    Helppp me,

I went football normal day, car running fine. finish football and then started the car, both lights came on, and i was like . So i turned it off and turned it back on, it started again with both lights but it was about to cut out. So i put my foot down to 3000 revs. And it was ok, and then it did not sound healthy and sounded like a scoobie. i do have a performance exhaust system but not that loud.

My bros taking it to a garage tomorrow but any ideas .

... this has happened before but olny engine light which resulted in a Throttle Position Sensor replacement.

    Thanks peeps,

Judging from your recent posts u have a GSi....

therefore my guess is the classic ZLET fault... the AFM

iirc Courtenay were selling them for about £60 the other week... may still have the offer on if ur lucky.

    doh!

still sounds suspiciously like the AFM though......then again it sometimes kicks up both the TC and ABS lights....

looks like the only surefire way is gonna be a Tech2 hookup or a local indy garage diagnostic hookup for about half the dealers prices.

Sorry its not an exact answer

    Air Flow Meter

    Sometimes called

MAF - Mass Air Flow sensor
    AMM - Air Mass Meter
    AFM - Air flow meter

basically its fitted in the intake trunking between the airbox and the throttle body and it measures the amount of air coming into the throttle and tells the ECU how much fuel to send through.

Certainly sounds like it....... get the ECU tested and see what exactly the lights mean.

PS: Looks like one of the mods has moved this to the turbo section when infact its not even on the ZLET....oh well doesn't matter now lol
