    code

I have just bought my astra and it has a cdr500 stereo fitted. stupidly i forgot to ask for the code before buying and when i rang the previous owner he says he doesn't know it. Any help on finding it out without having to pay would be much appreciated. i have done a google but no joy. the stereo works at the moment but id like to get hold of the code in case i have to disconnect the battery anytime.

Try contacting people who make it (can't remember off the top of my head, blaupunkt perhaps?) and ask them how. If they want money, don't give it to them. There's probably some dodgy market place type guy who can do it for you!

did you not get the car pass then? If not then you have 4 choices: 1) Any Ice shop can decode it for you 2) Any vauxhall dealer can get you the code at a cost of around £20 or so 3) Call the original dealer who provided the car at first registration, they will have the details on record (up to a certain timeframe) and most times they will give it to you for free if you show them the V5 document and you ask nicely 4) Bin it and go aftermarket.

Check inside all the car documentation. Most ppl right the code in the audio book or manual. Thats how i found mine.

It should be on a little credit card sized card in the folder that holds all the manuals. if not try the advice above

I had a couple of diferent codes that had been etched onto the back of mine, although after a cockup first time round i'm now on my 4th attempt i think, cause neither of the codes were right! And being a tit, i left the new arctic album in it!!

If vaux are about £20, how much would an ice shop do it for roughly? i guess they'll all vary..
