    rear brakes

    hello,
    the rear discs on my astra are getting pretty scaby and need replacing.
    do i have to replace the pads as well?

    can generally get a kit from vauxhalls (gen brakes) shouldnt be too steep, or you can go the none genuine motorfactors route, cheaper but generally more problematic

    Rather sweeping statement there

    Granted, the Genuine GM kits arent that expensive (u can often buy them on ebay - just make sure its the correct ones as theres Lucas & Bosch setups used on the Mk4) but pattern parts are equally as good - especially the likes of QH etc.
    For instance today, Ive just fitted some QH branded front discs, pads, rear shoes & cylinders (albeit not Vauxhall model) all for £60 and the quality is on par with the genuine parts.

    Anyway, politics aside - is totally upto u what u want on your car.
