Smile Loose Front Passenger Door Panel

    Hi All,

I have a 1.6i Astra 16v sxi. The front passenger door panel has become loose and I'm guessing it needs new clips? I have located the clips on ebay. I just wondered how I went about removing the panel, or if there were any precautions in doing this and fitting it back?

    Many thanks
    Tant

Hi Tant and welocme to AOC.

If you click this -> How-To, You'll find a guide on getting the door card off (along with a few others). It's simple enught to do and will take about 10min at your 1st attempt

just out of interest how much did you pay for the clips, and are you sure you got the right size. I don't mean that to come out like you don't know what you're looking at, its just that there are two types of clips that look near identical

also, the clips are only 6p each +VAT at Vauxhall so I hope you didn't get stung through the 'Bay

    Hi peteg2004,

I paid 10p each for them on ebay so not too bad, unless there the wrong ones. judging by the large pic on ebay they looked right though. It's cool as I dont really know what I'm doing. The guide on getting the door card off seems to be for a different type of astra, but I guess it's the same principle?!

If you have a mk4 then its the same whether you have a 3dr or a 5dr.

as for the different clips, I'll have a look for one of the pics I took for my "fitting components" thread, there's a pic with both clips in to show the differences.

will edit this to show it ASAP.

    here's the pic

the one on the left (the larger one) is for the door panel, the one on the right (smaller one) is for the tweeter housing.

basically to remove the door card, you have to

    A) Remove tweeter housing (wing mirror interior panel)
    B) unclip elec window/mirror switches using small flathead screwdriver
    C) use same screwdriver to lever off grab handle
    D) Undo T20 Torx screw (3 in total) behind grab handle
    E) undo T20 Torx screws along bottom of door (again 3 I think)

then just pull the panel off carefully, working your way round the edge to undo the clips
