    Vectra B Steering?

    Hi all,

Not so much related directly to a Vectra B, but does anyone know why my steering is alot heavier turning left then it is right? Also, I get alot of vibration whilst stationary through my steering wheel and when turning left OUT of a junction, I can feel a short clunk in the steering wheel.

    Any idea's?

    Cheers

    Gav

I'm immediately thinking steering gaitors/ball joints need checking...
    Also power steering fluid...

I was planning on checking the tyre pressures on the way home.

I'll check that whilst i'm at it. How would I check the gaitors & ball joints?

Check the pressures and make sure they are even. Could be that the steering rack is on its way out.

I had the same clunking thing with my Vectra B, along all it's many many other faults. Don't miss that thing one bit.

Mine was sorted under warranty at the time though so I couldn't tell you what it was.

Your clunking is the steering column coupling common problem on the B. You can try tightening them thats sometimes helps or just replace it.
