I learnt to drive in a 52 plate Cooper, a brand spanker it was. Loved it then, and still do. Having messed around with an old mini or two in the last few years and then had the odd blast in a mate's cooper, I can still honestly say I love them - especially compared to the old one.

They handle like a dream, and are pretty nippy for a 1.6 (well the cooper was/is anyway )

Only reason I don't have one is the price still. But then again that's another selling point - low depreciation. So what if there's a slight lack of space, they're no smaller than a Yaris/Aygo/107 or even a Corsa B (and much bigger than a Smart car!). If you want a big car, get a Zaffy or a Transit or something!

I had an MCS afew years ago, tuned to about 220bhp in the end, some simple chassis mods and it handled and went like a dream.

IF you can put up with the small space inside and the tiddly boot then awesome drivers car

They drive superbly, I would never own one though.

Also the old one is the mini, the new one is the MINI.

Went in the brand new cooper S a few weeks ago, goes like stink, i'm 6ft 2" ish and i was very comfortable in the back of the 3 door "mini". Interior design was very nice too. Shame about the £20K+ price tag.

Didn't Auto Express do a feature on this a few weeks ago? I seem to remember it coming top in the consumption test!
