Just got back from a 30 mile trip home and noticed a very loud high pitched squeek / whine from the rear wheels about half way through the journey.
It stops while the brakes are applied and when the handbrake is pulled (gentyly!) whilst moving.
It has been happening on and off for a week or so now and only really worried me tonight. As I walked past the rear drivers side wheel I noticed that the wheel was giving off a lot of heat!
putting a finger through the holes in the (steel) wheel it seemed to come from the hub.
What do you guys think this could be brakes binding or dry bearings.
either way could anyone recommend a cheap place for parts as I know the rear hubs are quite expensive.
Was thinking of taking the wheel off tomorrow to see if I could tell what was wrong
