crippling astra seats! are the Recaros better?

Currently I have standard seats in my SXI TWINPORT - although they look nice enough there bloody doing my back in.

Im getting a new chair for work, my home office and a new bed as im suffering with lower back pains (not good!!) - now I just gotta sort the car. Cant really justify spending £500 to £600 on the recaros, but if there good for comfort (and they do look sweet) I may consider.

What are peoples opinions as Ive never sat in a set - or can anyone recommend some seats???

I have the same problem as you. The seats are great for short journeys but spending any real time in them or long journeys kills my back as well. Which is never good as my backs weak anyway oweing to a crash I had.

Have you tried SRI seats as I think there plenty more better although I haven't done a particulary long journey in them!?

so SRI seats are different? I assumed they were all the same as they all look the same just different colours. Mine have the buckstyle sides on them, lumber support and are height adjustable but not the "extending under the knee bit"

my sri seats are pretty crap like abouve there good if your going for a short drive and they hold you in place very well for standard seats but after a couple of hours they hurt but i guess all seats are like this

I sent 3 years in standard mk5 seats without complaint, the sportier models seats are much firmer and hold you in better, but for longer journeys are inferior.
I guess most reps who do long distances have life/club models with the standard seats.

I found the GSi recaros to be a bit too harsh tbh, hold you in really well but I don't think I would like them on a long journey.

Have you tried playing with the lumber support? and following the how to sit in your car guide in the owners manual. I found setting the seat up right, and having the lumber support adjusted right ment I was able to do very long journeys without any discomfort.

When i set my seat up right my head hits off the roof of the car so i have to recline the seat and move the seat forward which is good for short journeys but for long ones its not the best also the lumbar dosent seem to be in the right place for my back
