having warranty issues with vaux - advice plzz

    hi all,

well as some of you might remember i took my car in because it has been shuddering when pulling off (intermitently)

well after the 6th visit to vaux with the same thing vaux have finally realised that (in their own words) there may be a problem with the clutch!
    (maybe chargeable to owner)

so i contacted vaux and they said we need your permission to strip the car and check if there is a fault.
if theres a fault - we will replace it
if its worn wear/tear - you will have to pay for a new one and pay for labour.

so i sed the cars done under 11000 whats the chances of it being worn - they said they have had to replace clutches with less miles on the clock than mine.

so i rang HO they said they are having trouble with clutches on 1.6 and should be replacing them with upgraded ones in august - so armed with this info i rang my local main dealer and they have rubbished this claim.

personally i cant see that the clutch is worn because it pulls great sometimes and ive done the usual checks to see if i have a worn clutch but find no problems.

i getting a little pished off with being fobbed off by vaux about this.

where the hell do i stand

any info or advice would be greatfully received.

TBH alot of the Mk5's have had clutch issues, the VXR has notorious problems with second due to clutch issues, its just luck of the draw. They should however be replacing under warranty @ 11000 miles !

people buy new to get issues like that fixed under warrantee - what a joke. Write an email to every car mag you can think of and try and get them on the case. Get trading standards advice.

Ask the dealer "is this your normal standard of customer care and product reliability?" If he says yes I would go to another dealer, if no then what are they prepared to do about it. Keep us posted & good luck.

there is a known fault with the clutches (material fault), there should be a modfied clutch being released. should have been out last month but nothing been finalised yet. i've got a few customers at work who are waiting for it.
life's to fast to go slow. so get the turbo.

Piss poor having to argue the toss over this. Get back on to the phone to what I assume you mean to be VX headoffice and point out the situation with this, see if they would contact your dealer to bring them up to date with issue of MK5 clutches. Then phone VX customer complaints/services and see what they can/will do.
If no one wnats to play ball contact trading standards.

There certainly is a clutch problem affecting the 1.6;s at the moment and the dealer should have had info on this through. If you are not happy with the dealer you have taken it to then take it to another. To solve the problem both the clutch and flywheel are being replaced for different parts, at present the clutchs are ready but they are awaiting for the flywheels to be finished before repairs can commence.

also call Vauxhall HQ back and ask them for your own case number.

Clutch is a wear and tear item, if your car is over 3000 miles then you will have to pay for the repair.
