    Any sparkies out there?

    hey...

Would any of you be able rebuild this:

I've got a Sony XR-C5120R Head unit, and i've got a 10 Disc CD Changer that plugs into the bus port and uses the RCA Inputs on the back.

With the above, I can create a button that will go on the dash, so when i select the CD Changer (on the head unit), I can then play my MP3 player via the head unit, then if I want to listen to CD's, I just press the button (or vise versa).

    Any idea's?

What about something like this? Just had a quick look on ebay, it does a bit more than you need but cant be too hard to remove to stuff you dont need and put it in a customer casing, or im sure if you look on ebay a bit more there might be something that will suit you perfectly.

The reason I wanted something like the picture i posted is that its going in the Vectra, which has a load of spare buttons on the dash. Would be great to have a nice button which when pressed will switch the source.

I can't find any information on how it is wired up, so I thought those who know what they are looking may know/understand the wiring and possibly provide some sort of way to reproduce it.

Moley - Cheers. Basically there is an RCA In on the head unit. So I would be building it with one of the inputs as RCA for the CD Changer and the other with a standard head phone jack. I just can't see or understand how the cables are going into the relay.

Looks easy enough to make again, you need a soldering iron and have to be fairly good at using it

Just be a case of nipping down to maplin and picking up
    - Small box
    - Relay (don't know which would be suitable)
    - some bits of cable for the switch
    - PCB terminals
    - RCA connectors / with wires?

I think the only issue is the relay. If I know where to solder everything onto the relay, then i'll make it my self.

    Using this:
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...=1918&doy=10m7

    With this:
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...37494&doy=10m7

    Might work,

Does that make any sense to you? tried my best lol

One you have the relay mounted like that, you can put the PCB terminals in on the same strip as the relay pins

    Like these

    I like the might.

Am I right in assuming that one of the 12v's should be negative ?

going from the left hand image on this diagram, your attempt should be perfectly fine. I'm just a little dubious regarding the power source?

I think all I need to is provide a switchable 12v to pins 4 and 8.
