    Intake advice

Right now I have a custom induction kit on my 1.6 mk4, sounds sweet for an 8v

The cone is right next to the grill so it takes most of the cool air and some hot from the manifold

Should I keep it like this or get the Veccy C mod done?

Any extra cold air is going to help. So having air rushing through a pipe aimed directly at the filter is going to help it breath.

But I'm asking if I should keep it for sound or put the OE box back in with the veccy C mod for power?

What do you want, sound or power?

Depending on that I think you already know the answer - for power re-fit the OE box, desrestrict it, fit a K&N and the Vectra-C intake pipe.

i had a cone filter on my 1.6 8v it sounded too loud and lost power IMO.
i think its pretty easy to notice that theres more power with the normal airbox.

I'll probably bung the old one back then.
Is the Courtnay sport foam filter any good?

Your throttle body looks strange I haven't seen one like that before. Is that standard?

If it isn't standard then fitting the original airbox won't exactly work and will require you to sort the plumbing out to attach it to what looks like to me (not knowing much about the 1.6 8v engine) an aftermarket intake manifold.

I don't think you'll see much better performance from changing tbh. I'd definatly be trying to get as much fresh clean air to the filter though. veccy C intake definatly.

Jam - its totally standard as its a post 2000 Z16SE with multi point injection.(albeit with a custom intake pipe from cone to TB) The earlier model youll be thinking of is the single point X16SZR with the large black plastic resonator on top of the TB.

Anyway, that aside - I say stick with the induction kit. Vauxhall 8valve engines seem to respond very well to cones as opposed to their 16v stablemates, underbonnet temps dont appear to be as bad either so providing u can make a good air intake then you're onto a winner.

I say at least go for a Vectra intake & adaptor to make most of the incoming air. Personally I have a cone on my 8v with a homemade intake (made from drainpipe to be exact - so its the full width of the rad) together with a massive pipe from cone to TB.... This sounds good, performance is v.good (well considerin its still a 8v) and it sucks like a bitch.

Anyway, stick with the cone - whack on the Vectra pipes and enjoy.

Well I just replaced the OE box and the car seems nippier as well as being alot quieter, I'll give the Veccy C pipe mod a go and see if its worth keeping

May sell the old induction kit
