    fuel leaking around engine

Hi all i know what the problem is with my starting problem why it is taking so long to start... it appears that there is diseal leaking in the engine bay, i think its coming from around the pump so every time i start the car its like starting a diesal that has ran out of fuel and it needs to prime it self..

what i would like to know is it serious ie seals in pump or could it be pipeing around that area?

The main starting problem the DTi ever has is the fuel spill pipes, which doze and split. As you're leaking diesel, and have starting problems, I think that's your solution right there.

If it's a DTi, then looking on the back of the engine won't help - the pipes are on the front.

arh this could be why i have a diseal on the floor below the turbo i was thinking it was leaking from back and running along the sump to the front to make it look like it was the front engine is y17dt but it does smell more strong around the back of the engine.

That's what im after picture of where to identify the leak as im told by zs that's it must be the front leaking the poatch appears under the front drivers side of engine but i thought all fuel pipes are at the rear and leaking from ther edriping to the front to make it look like the front.

yes m8 its the y17dt engine, its a real pain as it takes ages to start, as when its cold its like starting a diesel that has ran out of diesel then filled up with a jerry can....
