    ECU paper clip test

    as above just been and tried this on my 99 1.6i(8valve).I was expecting two digit codes but it appeared to be flashing P codes..
    Is this correct

    I did a thread on this a few weeks back showing what u have to do

    U basically have to count the sequence of the flashing light and pauses to generate the code.

    Have a look at www.topbuzz.co.uk for more information

    My guess is that it'll be either ICV or EGR code...

    try again and count amount of flashes, pauses, flashes, pauses

    it will be in this sequence so for instance:
    10 flashes, 1 pause, 5 flashes, 1 pause, 10 flashes, 1 pause, 5 flashes = 10-5-10-5 = code P0505 = ICV
    10 flashes, 1 pause, 4 flashes, 1 pause, 10 flashes, 1 pause, 10 flashes = 10-4-10-10 = code P0400 = EGR

    post up the sequence and we can tell u the fault
