    More Power Wanted!!!

Ive got a 1.8 and have decided that more power would be nice. (isnt it always). just want to know what ive got to do to get near the 200bhp mark. dont want to change the engine and dont really want to go for a turbo.

Any ideas would be helpful and where to get parts from would be much appreciated.

Which 1.8 have u got? X18XE1 or Z18XE? This will determine what starting point u have power wise.

First u should do all the usual run of the mill mods, air intake, exhaust (sports cat, uprated manifold, etc etc) ,,maybe cams and a remap...or my personal favourite throttle bodies...

Eat mature cheese and drink strong lager - that will make you dreams seem more real, and TBH that is the only way you are gonna see anything near 200bhp on a 1.8 without some serious engine work and a large stack of cash. Even then it would most probably a bugger to live on a day to day basis

The BTCC 2.0 gave around 300bhp so a 1.8, to the same spec should give about 240 but you'd need a mortgage or a legacy to do it.

For about £20k you can get a brand new Astra Sport Hatch VXR 2.0 turbo with 240bhp which would be a similar price.

    i had 320bhp out of my 1.6 8v and i was also doing 0 - 60 in 4.2 last nite,

then i woke up and realised that i had had a nice dream

started up the car, waited for it to warm up, and put my foot down. it moves about as quick as a milk float.

anyway back to the topic at hand, realistically your not looking at getting around 200bhp without some serious £££. I'd do the typical run of the mill mods and leave it. if you want 200bhp, dont mod it, sell it and put the modding money into the budget, then buy a 200bhp car tbh m8.

the 1.8's got potential, how much potential is up to your bank balance m8

200 is the figure i'm aiming for too pal. You're gonna have to get your cylinder head machined, new cams, new manifolds (both inlet and exhaust), bigger TB, a decent bore exhaust, and the obligitory airbox mods, and then top all that off with a good remap!!

This is what i'm hoping to do when it's 40k cambelt time, about 8 months at my current rate
Coupe now being broken for parts
    You know the one

the z18xe is a more tuneable engine then the 2.2 froeg you just ask the main vauxhall tuners in this country they will tell you that.
coupe 1.8 played with 162bhp and 139.7lbs/ft of torque on tap
