    Part number pleeease?!

Can any of you lovely people tell me what the part number is for a passenger side front fog lamp on a Mk5 3dr Sporthatch?? Its a 55 plate SXI if that makes any difference?! My glass has cracked somehow, and apparently you cant just buy new glass.

Also, how easy are they to fit? Could i do it myself or does the bumper have to come off?

    Ta very much!

this has been reported quite a few times on another forum - apparently some dealers are replacing the fogs under warranty 9unless it's an obvious stonechip)
seems quite common but no1 knows why they keep cracking?

How can they tell if its a fault or a stonechip?
Cuz if they think they can get money outta me, they arent gonna replace it under the warranty
The glass still feels smooth, its like the crack has come from the inside

Try it under warranty Nikki. You don't remember hearing a thud on the car and you would of if it has cracked the glass. Plus if it doesn't feel rough from the outside its probably caused by these faulty fog lamps.

As for how easy... A couple of bolts and an electrical connector. I would recommend putting it up on ramps or a jack as it has to be done from underneath. Or you can take your bumper off to make it easier, which isn't as scary as it sounds.

The early mk5's have the plastic fog lenses but the newer ones have glass effect ones. I have had both of my fronts replaced under the warranty as they both cracked after use on a cold night.

I recon this is a recognised fault they are not admitting too - i've seen quite a few in glssgow area with this.

Pushg them for the warranty they will replace it if the front has no chip marks!

    YEY!!!!!

I'm a happy lady!! Just got back from Greenhous, they replaced both my fog lamps under the warranty. The guy there said there was a fault with some of the earlier ones. They were just cracking for no reason. These new ones have been modified so it shouldnt happen again!

Thanks for the info you guys!!
