    Zafira GSi v's S-Max 2.5t ??

After driving my GSi my friend is looking to upgrade his family car..

He is goding me with the threat of buying a 2.5t s-max.

Anyone had any run in's with them, should I be worried by the lard arsed coach?

old zaffy has a booked figure of 0-60 in 7.6 and 138 top end iirc. if it went full on in a race (into bends etc) IMHO it would come down to the driver and their skill. the pre cat replacement will give around another 10hp for very little money on the zaf mk1 putting you more or less on par.

not sure on kerb weight for the ford?

I had a 'meeting' with one a month ago.
I turned off a dual carrigeway on to an 'A' road and abrand new Smax T turned in behind me from the other way so I proceeded along at pace and I could tell he wanted to play so I obliged and stayed in front before anything got too stupid.
Didn't seem to be much in it on the straight but he would gain a bit on some corners TBH but loose out on others.

He was a local bloke so he knew the roads as well as me and if he knew the capabilities of his new machine, I wouldn't have pulled out a 400m lead before slowing down for my village.

He was deffinately trying cos when he was up my ares a time or two, I could see the whites of his knuckles and him gritting his teeth

    My Zaf is appparently 214BHP.

Obviously at no time were the national speed limits breached, other than when the idiot overtook me through my village, obviously keen to get on.

I like the look of the Smax T but the size of it is too big for some of the roads I travel.

Noy bragging before anyone moans, just answering a question.

haha, what a strange question to be asking in the Zafira section. I will take on all comers in mine up to the speed limit that is. Had a really good play witha Porsche Targa on a private race track on Monday. He pulled onto a straight about 300m ahead of me and I caught him up after about a mile. Was doing around 130ish when I caught him up. He lives near where I was staying that week and pulled over for a chat. He was absolutely amazed that a people carrier caught him up. So if I can race a Porsche I will definitely have a go at another people carrier. On private roads of course
