Come on then Coilovers pro's and con's

Ok at present i have 40mm springs fitted with standard shocks, the ride itself isnt too bad not very firm tho which at times causes a problem yet for everyday dirve is good.

So coilovers are appealing to me, adjustable height really does appeal about them and i have heard adjustable shocks too

But firmness can this be adjusted too ive not looked in to coilovers much if at all:

do they replace springs and shocks?
are they a replacement for the springs and are supplied with standard set shocks?
Do they replace springs and have adjustable shocks?

Also are there brands to aviod or are they all pretty much the same

    Cheers folks any input appreciated

I had height adjustable fk coilovers on my mk4 2.0 sri fitted caus the 40mm drop springs i had on there were great at the back but were a little to high at the front. I had them for 2 years and they never gave me any problem. They wern't adjustable shocks tho and were a little hard at times. If you want adjustable dampers you will obviosly pay allot more than just height ones but it depends what sort of cash you wanna spend. I was torn between the 2 when i got mine but once they were fitted and the height set at the garage i never touched them again!
