    exhaust emission light/ecu

    is it true that if you disconnect the battery for more than 10 mins it resets the ecu and any warning lights go off if the fault is fixed.

    give it 15-20 preferrably 30mins. and yes it does reset the ECU but only to a certain extent.

    Only certain lights will extinguish (ie not safety related parts like airbag etc) but EML (engine management light) etc will do providing the fault has been fixed......saying that though,,, if u have fixed the fault then the light will go out itself over a period of a set mileage (cant recall what the figure is exactly)

    Just disconnect it and see. (Remember radio code if std one still fitted!)
