    Exclamation newbie

    im new here and im think of getting a 1.7dti i wopuld like the 2.dti but my insurance is going to be massive

    can i please ask are the 1.7 any good?

    1.7DTI's are good if somewhat lacking in power. To put it into perspective my 1.6 petrol can beat a 1.7DTI as Chidley found out.

    But engine is quite reliable (has its faults don't get me wrong) but none more so than any other. Should be pretty good first car. Depends what you want from it?

    really i need a new car im driving a mk3 1.4 i want better fuel economy cos i do about 60 miles a day and most at 70-80mph

    and my car is falling apart lol

    hi dave,welcome to AOC
    i have a 1.7dti, not a traffic light rocket but you get 600 miles on a tank, loaded with stuff and 3 adults 2 kids in,get 240+ miles on £20.00 town driving,on the motorway sound car will run and run,enjoy

    one last question are all teh 1.7dti/cdti all izuzi (i cant spell) or gm engines?

    1.7DTi is an Isuzu Engine (as found the in previous model astra MK4/G)
    1.7CDTI (as in the new shape MK5 astras) are Fiat engines.
