Question Late Astra G centre pipe question (sorry)

Got a late spec Astra 1.6 SXI TWINPORT with sleeve fit exhaust - wanting to fit a Irmy backbox (flange) but rather than:

    1. chop the flange off the box
    2. or buy a fitting kit (flange to sleeve) from LMF

Im thinking I should just change the centre pipe so it all marries up as is and hopefully sound better (with maybe a little more performance).

So i need a sleeve fit (cat end) I THINK its sleeve at this end - to flange fit (rear end) centre pipe. Can anyone recommend one for £50 and under that will fit a TWINPORT?

Was gonna just do a home fit so need to buy a pipe rather go to a garage and get the to make one and fit.

    Cheers>

    * sorry if its been asked a thousand times before - im at work so cant be seen to be surfing............

cheers Jam but I was aware of this kit (as mentioned in my first post) and I will go this route IF I cant pick up a cheap centre pipe that fits.
Would like to get the pipe now as Ive read alot of peoples posts suggesting that the irmy box isnt very loud or burbly with standard centre pipe.

    Anyone else???

Why not replace the mid section with the remus centre pipe from LMF?

The irmy box isn't particular loud and its about as restrictive as the original box. Even with a straight through centre section it won't be particulary loud.

(I didn't read all of your post I was skim reading - Sorry )

LMFs site says the Remus pipe they sell is flange only and looking at the picture its got a flange on both ends. I need sleeve cat end and flange rear box end.

mmmmm......buying the box wasnt expensive but was in abit of a state so I stripped the heat paint and polished all the metal. Ive re-painted it with 450 degree heat resistant paint and it looks brand new.

Id like to keep it because of the effort ive put in and my current exhaust is to big and noisy. But if its gonna be too quite and infact maybe less performance/feel then I have now then I may sell......for a profit. Gotta recoupe price of exhaust, metal polish, paint strippper, heat paint oh and post the bugger - ITS HUGE AND HEAVY!

Jimmy.... ALL Remus (and other manufacturers) centre pipes are the same fitment - ie sleeve at front & flange at rear - therefore any will fit straight on.

The cheapest one Ive seen is the Sportex one for £49 from www.tuning.co.uk - advert in TV mag, but this i believe is mild steel compared to stainless used by Remus and all the others. The cheapest Ive seen the Remus for is about £71 delivered from LMF on their ebay site.

ok cheers Jam and Marti (glad you guys are always about to mop up my constant questioning)

I only questioned the fitment because the photo looks like it has a flange on both ends. I'll give LMF a call and see what they can do for me.

    what i did...

on the pictures... on the one end its a flange, and the other end its a sleeve, but its got the kinda O clip on it which makes it look like another flange, i too got worried about this, but its a simple swap if u want to put a flange fit backbox on

    go remus... sounds purdy
