    Oil Catch Tanks Plumbing

Excuse my crap pic below, but is my theory right? read a few threads but am still confused.

Does the hose that comes out from the top of the engine(used to connect to the crossover pipe) connect to the Inlet intake of the catch tank, and then the outlet hose of the catch tank plumbs in to the hose after the AFM and before the turbo, if the intake system is as follows: Induction Kit > Hose > AFM > Hose > Turbo.

    Is that right or?

    thanks to danny

What people tend to do is put the breather in the bottom of the air box, so it gets filtered twice before going through the afm again. Its an MOT fail to just filter to atmosphire and it will stink of oil.

    whats the small filter then?

im assuming in my case thats where i'd then plumb into the hose after the turbo and before the AFM?

ahhh i see what you mean, thats what i thought.

so does this mean that people that plumb directly into the pipes (after turbo, before afm) dont have a catch tank?

so i cant go from the engine block to the catch tank, and then ive got 2 choices? plumb to hose, or small filter? or is it only the filter that can be done?

Sorry for the long windedness, getting blagged

As standard they dont have a catch tank, so its plumbed directly onto the pipe that comes over the engine (between the afm and turbo)

You could plumb to hoze, but not sure how you would do that (assume you are fitting a 2.2 air box, its tight!!)

So drill a hole in the bottom of the air box, below the filter. Run the "out" of the catch tank into the bottom of the air box, and inside the air box put the above filter on it on the "out".

    Does that make sence :s
